Yeah, getting counselling -
good counselling - after an experience like that is
crucial. Oftentimes things like that will affect a person in ways that slip under the radar for months, or years. I mean hell that happens with much lesser traumas.
As for getting backstabbed...my sympathies/empathies dude, I've been through that myself more times than I care to count. Most of these cases were of people pretending to be my friend out of "pity", and then deciding later that I'm too intolerable to keep around; had a few much grander cases over the last year, too.
It's amazing how many people will try to justify the most ridiculous accusations, and the most bald-faced lies.
But don't go too far in the other direction and forget how to let people into your life, either.
